Dedicated to Günter Gerhard Lange, the internationally renowned Typographer and former Artistic Director of H. Berthold AG, on the occasion of his 100^th birthday on 12^th April, 2021.

“100 years GGL”: With this motto I want to remember my mentor, friend and promoter of type quality and young talents in this anniversary year. With insights into his life and work, his work for H. Berthold AG, his fonts, lectures and publications. I invite you to join me on a journey into GGL’s world of type, his “brittle mistress”, as he himself called it, a world which he sustainably shaped and in so many ways helped to create.

The tgm honors Günter Gerhard Lange

April 29th, 2021 | 1.00 p.m. | Clubhouse TYPO TALK

On April 29th, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., tgm will host a Clubhouse TYPO TALK to celebrate the 100th birthday of Günter Gerhard Lange. Catherine Avak and Rudolf Paulus Gorbach will talk about the person GGL, his works and the influence on modern design today.

April 12th, 2021 | 7 p.m. | Zoom-Birthdayparty

The Typographische Gesellschaft München (tgm), which made GGL an honorary member in 1990, honored and celebrated him on April 12, 2021 from 7 p.m. in an open zoom talk. The recording with anecdotes from friends, companions such as Yvonne Schwemer-Scheddin, Irmgard Voigt, Eckehart SchumacherGebler and many others will soon be published on the tgm YouTube channel.
